Beware Everyone and Anyone Now At Risk in the United States: The Terrifying New Act: NDAA

When US Congress Representatives and Senators are sworn into office they take an oath to uphold the basic principles of the US constitution. To uphold the law and to preserve the principles of the basic guaranteed liberties including due process and habeas corpus. Yet it is these very Congress people that propose preposterous bills that trample basic civil liberties. As this is the case in the newly proposed bill; the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) could allow for the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens without charge or trial in a military prison. Of course this was met with huge negative reactions towards detaining any US citizen without due process anywhere in the world if s/he is merely suspected of any terrorist behavior. Of course this definition is extremely vague and broad to the point if someone voices any government objection may be interpreted as a terrorist inclination and thus detained indefinitely without any charges. We heard some of the higher officials, especially in the Senate, voice their concerns of the dire consequences of passing this bill into law. Even a mentioning of an executive veto by the President himself who can ultimately halt this bill in its tracks.

However the threat is real and imminent. According to Christopher Anders, senior legislative counsel at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) responded, “…This bill puts military detention authority on steroids and makes it permanent. If it becomes law, American citizens and others are at real risk of being locked away by the military without charge or trial.”

Yet one major point was omitted from the high level debate: the indefinite detainment of an individual in a military prison applicable to American citizens not actual combatants, just regular citizens on the street. That poses a major problem, a déjà vu of Guantanamo Bay thereby ensuring this nightmare scenario will be ever-present anywhere in the world, destroying the values of the rapidly crumbling democracy which America now falsely touts. A strikingly similar resemblance to Qadaffi’s former regime and Bashar Assad’s current regime.

Every Muslim or Arab or Brown person is a new potential target. What happened to “innocent till proven guilty”? The US Constitution strictly forbids this sort of action as mentioned in the the habeas procedure in Article One, Section 9, states that “The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion, the public safety may require it.” Now if someone happened to look like Osama bin Laden or Anwar Awalaki will have the legal backing to kidnap, the actual meaning of detain, that person for an unspecified time subjected to military confinement. As evident in Guantanamo Bay, prisoners are held without trial or charges for almost a decade.

Does racism and hatred run deeper than ever before? Did the Civil Rights Movement not shatter these glass walls? As the decades pass, it is clear that this is far from the truth. Now every racist bigot will be able to notify the authorities of their Muslim citizens simply based on suspicion and fear be it “manufactured” or real whether that person wears hijab or grows a beard while wearing a kufi cap. This is simply based on appearance. What about the vocal US citizens who oppose foreign or domestic policies. Why not lock up 99% of the US population???

If one were to simply judge using US produced statistics, immigrant Muslims lead a far more law-abiding lifestyle than their white counterparts. They do not resort to substance abuse, looting, or vandalism during times of need and hardship. The children of these immigrant families go on to complete successful college educations and live productive lives.

Now another more alarming statistic is the profile of a serial killer or child molester or rapist. Why not propose and pass a US Bill that will contain such dangerous people thereby protecting the greater society. Well perhaps the US will have more detention centers than shopping malls and nearly 90% of the population will be indefinitely locked up for an unknown time period.

Another facet of this newly proposed bill is the resounding paranoia and fear factor that will be ever more exaggerated. Every American and non-American will do a double or triple-take on their Muslim neighbor, co-worker, and while we’re at it our Muslim doctors all whom the majority of the population has had some type of relationship or interaction with, the vast majority included positive results.

In fact, Islamophobia with the backing of the NDAA will have detrimental effects on society quickly advancing the breakdown of democracy and its social fabric. Media hype will almost immediately propagate quick check-lists for possible terrorists. True that many human rights organizations will cry foul and Muslim civil liberties agencies will call upon the community to quickly and actively voice their objections to their local representatives. In the end Islamophobia will gain fierce momentum and basic liberties will have no bearing on the fate of US citizens living on US soil or any soil for that matter.

The introduction and the potential effect of NDAA will be another nail in the coffin in US democracy. What a humiliating day in US history when the US legislation signs the following bill into effect. Let’s pray, if that is even possible without being detained these days, that this is not the prelude towards Muslim concentration camps. It happened before on US soil, it could happen again all in the name of “War on Terror”.

It would be easy for the historian or non-Muslim to get caught up in Salam’s historical and some might say skewed analysis of some of the major battles in Islam’s history. Salam is not writing about history to merely educate the reader about how brave and powerful the Islamic armies were. Instead, Salam’s purpose is educate the reader as to how jihad is to be properly used.

The Hizb author reviews the battle of Mu’tah, Qadishiyah, the Crusades and naval battles. He also quotes General Erwin Rommel the famed Desert Fox and Mohammad. Salam states that General Rommel claimed that he followed the tactics employed by General Khalid ibn al Walid. Nevertheless, this quote is actually meaningless because it does not support his thesis that jihad is only to be used under the direction of a Caliphate with State armies. This is just another brag. But if history serves me and it does, when Rommel was faced with forces equal to his own he lost. Let us look at the ahadiths. Salam quotes an ahadith by Ahmad ibn Hanbal. It states:

“I am a prophet and I have ten names (characteristics).I am the prophet Muhammad, I am the prophet Ahmad, I am the Maahi, I am the Haaq, I am the Muqfa, I am the Hashir, I am the prophet of rahma, I am the prophet of tawba and I am the prophet of Jihad (war).”

Salam’s conclusion is that if Muhammad is the prophet of war and Muslims are the people of the prophet then Islam ought to be the people of Jihad as well. Salam’s purpose in reciting this ahadith is not merely to reveal to the reader that Mohammad was the prophet of Jihad. His purpose is reveal that the proper use of Jihad must be directed from the top in this case, the prophet. Since Mohammad is dead, this responsibility passes to the Caliph. The Caliph is the only person who can properly command and direct any jihadi activity for the Ummah against Dar al-harb.

Salam sees fit to record a long ahadith narrated by Mu’adh ibn Jabal and transmitted by Tirmidhi, Ibn Maja and Ahmad. I am not going to quote the entire ahadith but only the portion which has a direct bearing on Salam’s argument. Nevertheless, let me set up the context. Someone has come to Mohammad and “I said to Allah’s Messenger, inform me about an act which would entitle me to get into Paradise and remove me away from Hell-Fire.” The majority of the ahadith is Mohammad telling this Muslim to basically follow the pillars of Islam. Yet, near the end of the ahadith Mohammad said, “Should I not direct you to the highest level of this matter, to the pillar on which it and its top (uppermost)?” The Muslim says “Allah’s Messenger yes, (do tell me).” Here is Mohammad’s answer and it ought to be memorized by every American so that they will have a ready answer to the Muslim apologists who claim that Islam is a peaceful religion. Mohammad stated,

“The uppermost level of the matter is al-Islam. Its pillar is the prayer and its top is Jihad.”

This ahadith makes a claim which Islamic apologists CAIR, ISNA and the present American government deny. The argument is that jihad is a pillar of Islam. This statement agrees with a number of other ahadiths in which Mohammad equates Jihad co-equally with the Shahada, Islam first pillar. So, it is a misnomer within American Islamic studies to claim that Jihad is the sixth pillar when in fact it is equal to the first pillar making it a part of the first pillar.

Salam also quotes a little known but interesting ahadith which was supposedly narrated by Abu Umamah and related by Abu Dawood. It states:

“A man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, allow tourism (siyaha) for me. The tourism (siyaha) of my Ummah is Jihad.”

The unnamed Muslim was asking Mohammad’s blessing to travel although the ahadith does not state what his destination might be. Mohammad’s answer is intriguing and enlightening. Mohammad seems to have believed that the only true form of travel for his Ummah is through Jihad. Of course, Salam’s purpose is not to give the reader an introduction into Islamic tourism. His purpose is tie Mohammad, Jihad and Ummah together. Salam’s point is that jihad is properly used when a Prophet/Caliphate is directing the Ummah as they travel to other nations with the intent imposing Islam upon the non-Islamic world. Muslims are not coming to America because they like America but to Jihad against it. In fact, Muslims are coming to America for the same reason that Mughira stated that the Islamic armies were coming to Persia. He said:

“Mughira placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and said, ‘If you do not accept either Islam or pay the
jizyah, the sword will decide the matter.”

What arrogance. Well, the Ummah did travel. Salam mentions four places the Ummah visited by Jihad and were successful. I am not going to go into the detail he does because most of the details are meaningless to Salam’s point. The real purpose of the details is glorify Islam as a superior political entity and superior individual initiative. Nevertheless, Salam does reveal his point in each example. He claims that the battle of Mu’tah was fought by “the Muslim army.” He claims that “the Islamic State’s armed forces” won the battle of Qadisiyah. Salam argues that it was the “tough nucleus of the Khalifah’s army” which defeated the Crusaders. Finally, he refers to the Islamic navy whose commander, Mu’awiyah, who defeated the Roman navy under the direction of the Khalifah. In addition, he refers to the navy as “the fleet of the Khalifah State.”

Salam’s belief seems to be that Islam’s power is the Jihad and the Jihad can only properly be executed under the direction of a Caliph who is using an Islamic state-run army. He claims that the Islamic state army under the Caliphs were the most modern and powerful military machines the world has even known. He boasts that “the Muslim army could never be defeated.” The prowesses and strength of the Islamic armies under the early Caliphs were inherited by the following Islamic armies right up to the demise of the “mighty Khilafah State which died in 1924. How powerful was the Ottoman Empire? He claims that those in the West told others to be careful how they approached the Caliph because he could sum up three million soldiers with the movement of a finger. In addition, it was claimed that if you step on the tail of the dog in Europe you could hear it bark all the way to Asia. Finally, he claims the West described the Islamic army as the undefeatable army.” This is rather interesting because we know today that both the Roman and Persian empires were already in advanced decay when the Islamic armies attacked so the author’s claim is invalid. In addition, the so-called “mighty Khilafah State” which possessed the “undefeatable army” was defeated at in its heyday.

Nevertheless, despite the historical inaccuracies, Salam’s purpose in the introduction is to provide evidence that Jihad is properly used only under the direct of a Caliph who is commanding an Islamic army.

The Hizb ut-Tahrir believes that Jihad is an essential part of Islam. Yet, unlike Al Qaeda, Al-Shabaab and others Hizb believes that Jihad is properly a tool only of the Islamic state or Caliphate. Jihad and the Foreign Policy of the Khilafah State written by Zhid-Ivan Salam is an expose detailing how Jihad is to be properly used by the Caliph as a tool of the state.

Salam begins, as do all Hizb writers, depicting the horrible condition of the Ummah today. He bemoans that the Ummah is at the lowest political point it has ever been even among non-Islamic states. The Ummah is not a leader in world politics but rather controlled and influenced by non-Islamic entities like America, Britain and Europe. The reason that the Ummah has no voice in world politics is because not one Islamic country executes its belief (Aqeedah).

The Caliphate was destroyed more than 70 years ago. The time is calculated from the book’s publication which was July 4, 2001. Since the Caliphate’s destruction Shar’ ia has disappeared as a system of practical rules for life. The loss of the Caliphate has contributed to the confused mentality of today’s Ummah. The confused mentality of the Ummah today has caused the Ummah to formulate solutions to their problems from reality rather than Shar’ ia. Hizb does not believe that reality, what is actually out there, is the source from which Islam must formulate its solutions. Instead, reality is to be bent to Shar’ ia because Shar’ ia is the only source the Ummah ought to use to formulate solutions.

Salam posits a number of questions which he believes today’s confused Ummah cannot properly answer and what concerns him is that the Ummah’s inability to answer these questions blur their mission and purpose in life. The Ummah’s mission and purpose in life is to convey the Islamic belief. (Da’wah) But such a purpose demands the Ummah have an international presence for if the Ummah is going to fulfill its purpose and mission it must be powerful and dominating. Jihad is the method by which Da’wah is conveyed to the world, will make the Ummah powerful and dominating and is the reason why the Ummah of the past had such a high standing for thirteen centuries.

Nevertheless, Salam states Jihad necessitates the existence of a state which possesses a military. The form of Salam’s Jihad needs clarification for those who are not familiar with Hizb’s doctrines. Salam is describing offensive Jihad.  Hizb believes that what is popularly called defensive jihad is not a true jihad but merely defensive fighting. True Jihad must take the Da’wah to the world and that demands offensive Jihad controlled by the Caliph. Hizb’s view of Jihad is much the same as Seyyid Qutb’s. Jihad is the tool which will allow the Muslims to become great again, consolidate their position and deal with super states i.e., America. The problem is that the Ummah is confused about the real meaning of Jihad. This clarity leads to ineffectual conveyance of Da’wah which leads to no mission and purpose which leads to no world dominance which leads to an impotent Ummah. Still, none of the above is possible without the Khalifate state. Salam points out three obstacles the Ummah faces.

1) Misunderstanding Islamic belief as treating all of life’s affairs.
2) The Khilafate is the method to apply the Islamic solution.
3) The neglect of the proper use of Jihad according to Shar’ ia.

For Salam “Islam with Jihad is like a ship with no captain to steer and direct it through the seas.” Part of the Ummah’s problem is the misunderstanding it has about Jihad itself. He lists the different ways in which people interpret Jihad and he claims the purpose of the misconceptions to make sure the Ummah does not raise to the mighty position they commanded in the past. Salam believes that Jihad is the link to both purpose and mission and the only method which will lead the Ummah to achieve a “high and dominate position in world affairs as a leading nation.” He reminds the reader about the Ummah’s so-called glorious past when it stormed and conquered the world within less than a hundred years after  Mohammad’s death.

What was the secret?

The secret should not be surprising and yet it ought to be. The secret to the Ummah’s rise in world politics at that time was Jihad. This is interesting because there are many Islamic apologists and groups like CAIR that argues that Islam rose to world dominance because of the power of the Islamic message. The Hizb author argues Islam rose to power despite the message. Jihad gave the Ummah of the past a mission, a world view, a conquest and victory enabling the Da’wah to go forth. However, the Ummah in the 21st Century is confused and this confusion has allowed Islam’s enemies to shame and humiliate the best of all peoples. Salam believes that as long as this confusion continues Muslims will remain subjugated, preyed upon, looted and eaten alive everywhere and without exception. Hizb writers have a tendency to create a strawman argument that they use to dissipate the mental fog of the reader. This book is no different although I would add that Salam’s best example of his fears is Islamic controlled states.

But Salam’s worst nightmare is that the West particularly America, Britain and Europe will not fear the Ummah. Nevertheless, if the Ummah will incorporate the secret of Islamic supremacy then the West will fear Islam. Jihad is the Ummah’s true secret, the secret of its might, honour, glory, security, dignity and life. Jihad is life!

Next: The Introduction

The author has provided a lot of background about why the Ummah is in the situation that it is presently. In this the last section of this booklet, the author provides more explicit insight into Hizb’s so-called method.

Hizb claims that it has limited itself only to the divine rules based on Mohammad’s sayings and actions. The author quotes a number of passages which command Muslims to follow Mohammad. (1, 2, 3) The author makes a distinction between Mohammad’s work and their own. Mohammad carried the Da’wah to Mecca which was not Muslim at the time. Hizb focuses on taking the Da’wah to lands which claims to be Islamic but are not. Hizb, like Seyyid Qutb in Milestones, argues that no Islamic land is truly Dar al-Islam because they do not implement the Shar’ ia fully.

Hizb provides four guidelines which they follow to proclaim the Da’wah. The last guideline has five parts to it.

Guideline #1: Hizb proclaims Da’wah to Islamic and non-Islamic worlds to fulfill “Let there be from amongst you a group calling to good, enjoining Ma’rouf (what is right) and forbidding Munkar (evil).” (Al Imran 104) Allah makes it Fard (obligatory) on Muslims to implement the Shar’ ia in all areas of public and private life.

Guideline #2: Hizb constrains itself to follow only the divine rules for all actions and activities. The list they provide is the following:

1) The Halal and the Haram is the standard for all activities.
2) Mastery belongs only to Islam.
3) Hizb exposes itself to danger from both without and within the Ummah.
4) Hizb does not flatter anyone. If Muslims and non-Muslims are engaged in Kufr activities, they are confronted and encouraged to leave.
5) Hizb believes that all political parties (Republicans and Democrats), ideological parties (Socialism, Communism and Democracies) and religious parties (Christian and non-Christian) are kufr.
6) Hizb shows no allegiance to any non-Islamic governmental system whether it is in an Islamic land or not.
7) Hizb does not use any non-Islamic political party to carry Da’wah because it is Haram. Instead, it takes every opportunity to criticize the Kufr government sharply.
8) Hizb does not participate in the ruling system because the participation would strengthen and support the Kufr. Rather, Hizb strives to uproot and remove Jahili systems to restore the Islamic way of life.

Guideline #3: Hizb works to implement Islam everywhere fully. (4) The author quotes “Whatever the Messenger brought you take it, and whatever he forbids you abstain from it.” (Al Hashr 7) The word whatever is maa and covers every rule Mohammad gave. Hizb claims that it is obligatory (fard) to implement every command at the same time and not gradually because all of Mohammad’s commands must be followed.

The author also takes about reality. He does not explain the term so I can only assume he is talking about the way things really are at any given moment in the world. The Hizb author states “Furthermore, when the reality contradicts with Islam, it is not allowed to interpret Islam so as to agree with reality . . . ” In other words, reality is to be reconstructed by the Islamic way of life. So, the Kufr reality is meaningless if it is not the Islamic reality and it cannot be that Islam is the unreality.  So, Islam is responsible to force its change on the reality, as the Qur’ an states, even if the Kufr hate it.

Guideline #4: The fourth guideline reveals how Hizb attempts to change Jahili from within. There are five stages.

Stage 1: This is the stage of culturing. This involves finding and culturing an individual convinced by the Da’wah. This stage is the foundational stage and everything else hinges on it. In this stage the nucleus or the first circle begins.

A) An individual is contacted.
B) The thought and method of Islam are presented individually.
C) When the individual accepts the Da’wah he is invited to study in concentrated circles.
D) This study will create an Islamic personality with an Islamic mentality who looks at the world through an Islamic world view.
E) This creates an Islamic psyche with Islamic emotions making him happy when things are done Allah’s way and angry when they are not.
F) At this point the individual forces himself upon the party and they meet secretly until the second stage. The Hizb author claims that Mohammad also meet secretly with his new converts in Mecca quoting the Qur’ an until they were fully formed.
G) The purpose of this stage is to create a party of people molded by the Islamic thought.

Stage 2: In this stage Hizb goes public and interacts with the Ummah.

A) The concentrated culturing of individuals which began in stage one continues increasing the party’s numbers and knowledge.
B) The collective culturing of the Ummah begins when Hizb takes the Da’wah to the masses through mosques, conferences, lectures, public gatherings, newspapers, books and leaflets.

Stage #3:

A) The intellectual struggle begins with the Kufr.

Stage #4: This is the political struggle against the governments.

A) The struggle is against any political institution which is imperialist and disbelieving.
B) All the rulers of Islamic states that are not Dar al-Islam must be confronted to expose them.

Stage #5: In this stage Hizb now turns to care for the Ummah. Hizb claims that the party has already been following the Sunnah through these steps.

Hizb has struggled against both Islamic and non-Islamic leaders challenging them at every step when they do not follow the Shar’ ia. Mohammad defamed, insulted and cursed the gods of the Meccans and Hizb has been doing the same to Shirk no matter who is in charge. And just like Mohammad did in similar circumstances,  Hizb too has refrained from using violence. The Sunnah the Hizb writer chooses is the time when the people who gave Mohammad the second pledge at Aqabah sought to use violence against those persecuting them. Mohammad answered that Allah did not permit the use of force at this time. (5) Hizb also has been trying to reach the world with Da’wah peacefully.

This is an interesting statement because although it is true, it is also true that Mohammad eventually abandoned peaceful methods and used force. Mohammad did not take Mecca merely through Da’wah but ultimately through force. Force was the life blood of Islamic conquest throughout the Near and Middle East and eventually into Europe and North Africa. Hizb stated in this booklet that its job is to promote the Islamic way of life through Da’wah and Jihad. So, when does Hizb turn from merely peaceful means to jihad?

Nevertheless, the world hardened its feelings toward Hizb and the question might be, is it permissible to use force? Hizb reviewed the times when society hardened itself against Mohammad and they believe that Nusrah (help) is the answer. This may be a cry for help from Hizb ut-Tahrir to get the protection they seek to continue the Da’wah.

1) Mohammad was under Abu Talib’s protection but when he died Mohammad lost that protection and the society hardened against him. So, Allah commanded Mohammad to leave Mecca and to seek help from other tribes.
2) So, Mohammad approached the tribes. He stated he was Allah’s messenger, asked them to believe that and to provide him protection so he could continue his Da’wah.
3) The Bani Kinda and Bani Amir ibn Sa’as’ah (Medinah) consented to protect Mohammad as long as they had the right of government. The Hizb author concludes that the Kinda tribe understood that Mohammad wanted to setup a government in his request for Nusrah.
4) The tribes at Medinah provided the Nusrah at the end of the second pledge of Aqabah and at this point the Islamic state now existed.
5) The society has become hardened to a point against the Da’wah today. Therefore, Hizb is asking for Nusrah to (1) carry the Da’wah to the world and (2) to reach the government to establish the Caliphate. Nevertheless, this protection would be limited because there are many areas in which Hizb has the political upper hand. Hizb does not protection everywhere but they could use help in Central Asia and America.

The Hizb author ends with a prayer that Allah help them to establish demolish all Kufr regimes, establish the Caliphate and govern by the Shar’ ia.

1) “Verily, in the Messenger of Alllah you have a good example for everyone who looks for Allah and looks for the last day and who mentions Allah much.” (Al-Ahzab 21)
2) “Say to them if you love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you and will forgive you your sins.” (Al-Imran 31)
3) Whatever the messenger gives you take it, and whatever he forbids you abstain from it.” (Al Hashr 7)
4) “And govern between them with what Allah has revealed and don’t follow their desires and beware that they might seduce you from some of the what Allah has revealed upon you.” (Al-Ma’dah 49)

A top House Republican said Tuesday the primary goal of U.S. policy in Egypt should be to “stop the spread of radical Islam,” an objective that has been little mentioned by Obama administration officials in recent weeks.

Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., also said at a news conference he hopes the street protests taking place in Cairo and elsewhere will lead to a democratic society that “stands for human rights, progress and equal opportunity.”

In his remarks, Cantor did not criticize President Barack Obama over his handling of the two-week crisis.

GOP leaders have privately urged members of the rank and file not to second-guess Obama’s approach to the crisis, in which hundreds of thousands of Egyptians have staged demonstrations demanding that President Hosni Mubarak surrender power.

Asked about criticism leveled recently by another Republican lawmaker, Cantor said, it would not be “helpful for this President, who is having a tough enough time as it is, to have 535 members of Congress to opine on his conduct of foreign policy.”

Yet with his remarks, which aides said were planned in advance, Cantor appeared to be articulating a different policy objective than the one Obama has spoken of most frequently.

“I think the primary goal should be to stop the spread of radical Islam. That is where our focus should be,” he said.

Since the protests first arose, Obama has called for a transition to a government — regardless of its leader — that grants greater freedoms than Mubarak allows in a nation of 80 million.

“The future of Egypt will be determined by its people. It’s also clear that there needs to be a transition process that begins now. That transition must initiate a process that respects the universal rights of the Egyptian people and that leads to free and fair elections,” the president said late last week.

Mubarak, who has been in power nearly 30 years, has been a strong ally of the United States in the Middle East as well as in its attempt to rein in international terrorists. He also has abided by the peace treaty with Israel signed by his predecessor.

At the same time, in recent years U.S. presidents have urged Mubarak to allow greater freedoms for Egyptians, including free elections.

Cantor is Jewish and a strong supporter of Israel, whose leaders have been watching events unfold in Egypt with apprehension.

Asked whether Cantor’s remarks stemmed at least in part from his position on Israel, Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring said the majority leader “has consistently made clear that the expansion of radical Islam is a global danger and is bad for America and our allies.”

Other traditional congressional supporters of Israel have also remained on the sidelines while Obama grapples with the protests in Egypt.

Simultaneously, one of the most powerful lobbying organizations in Washington, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, has been largely silent on the fast-moving developments. AIPAC holds considerable sway with lawmakers and many take their lead from the group.

Ufa, October 31, Interfax – A covert unit of the Hizb ut-Tahrir international terrorist organization, outlawed by the Russian Supreme Court, has been seized in Sibai, Bashkortostan, the republican department of the Federal Security Service said.

The organizer and leader of the group, native of the Baimak district of Bashkortostan, Ramil Sharipov, was taken into custody. He was a witness to a Hizb ut-Tahrir case in 2008. The police also detained his two close associates – Rinat Arginbayev, who joined the organization in 2010, and Rustem Gibadatov.

One of them was recruiting new members to Hizb ut-Tahrir in Sibai and the other hosted meetings of the extremists at his home, the department said.

The detainees were engaged in Hizb ut-Tahrir propaganda in Bashkortostan, recruited local residents to the organization for stirring up separatist feelings with the goal of changing the political and state structure of Russia, and took purposeful efforts to split the society and to create conditions for a change of the constitutional system, the department said.

Plenty of magazines, brochures, leaflets and video films were seized in the searches done at the suspects’ homes on October 21. All of those materials were proclaimed extremist by court.

The unit’s leader and his accomplices were charged with organizing an extremist organization on October 27.

Sharipov made partial confessions, and the confessions of Gibadatov and Arginbayev were full.

The investigation continues.

Hizb ut-Tahrir units were neutralized in Birsk, Tuimazy, Sterlitamak, Salavat and Ufa in Bashkortostan in June to early October 2011. Six supporters of the international terrorist organization acting in Kumertau and Tuimazy were sentenced.

Hizb ut-Tahrir started its activity in Bashkortostan in 2001. It spread to a number of towns and cities later on.

24th of January 2011, Hizb ut Tahrir Europe organized a demonstration against the visit of Karimov, president of Uzbekistan, in front of the Uzbek Embassy in Brussels.

Hundreds came to show their support for Hizb ut Tahrir and to confront Karimov, for his crimes against Islam, the Muslims and humanity in Uzbekistan.

Speakers highlighted the various crimes of Karimov and his regime, including the mass murder on the 13th May 2005 when he ordered his special security forces to attack unarmed protestors in Andijan; thousands of people, including many members of Hizb ut Tahrir, were killed.

The Andijan massacre is part of a much broader pattern of oppression that has characterized Karimov’s rule. These include the severe torture of independent Muslims and members of Hizb ut Tahrir’s prisoners. The severe mutilations that some suffered resulted in the death of many innocent people. The silence of Western governments against these crimes has been deafening.

Furthermore, one of the speakers highlighted how the European Union (EU) and NATO revealed their real face by inviting and welcoming this tyrant. Western governments do not care about the fate of the Muslims of Uzbekistan or anywhere else. Rather, they support unelected dictators in order to secure energy contracts and other profitable interests. Regimes like Karimov’s in Uzbekistan were given the free hand to attack Islam and the Muslims and the ‘International community’ has turned a blind eye to it.

Hizb ut Tahrir Europe condemned the regime’s imprisonment of thousands of members of Hizb ut Tahrir and other Muslims and demanded their immediate release.

Our message to Karimov and his regime is that we have promised Allah (swt) that we will never bow our heads before any tyrant and will continue to speak the truth with patience and firmness and work tirelessly to re-establish Al Khilafah Ar Rashidah.

ISLAMABAD: Several weeks before the military detained a group of senior officers for alleged links with the radical group Hizb ut-Tahrir earlier this year, the country’s intelligence agencies warned that the banned organisation was planning an Egypt-style uprising in Pakistan by seeking support from ‘like-minded’ elements within the armed forces. In a correspondence among the Punjab police, the Directorate of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and the government in April this year, made available to Khabrain.info , there was a clear warning of the outfit attempting a ‘deep infiltration’ of the military and academia.

The chanting crowd at the radical Muslim protest in Indonesia stood out for its normalcy: smartly dressed businessmen, engineers, lawyers, smiling mothers, scampering children.

At a time when al-Qaida seems to be faltering, the recruitment of such an educated, somewhat mainstream following is raising fears that Hizbut Tahrir, an enigmatic global movement, could prove more effective at radicalizing the Islamic world than outright terrorist groups.

Active in 45 countries, Hizbut is now expanding in Asia, spreading its radical message from Indonesia to China. It wants to unite all Muslim countries in a globe-spanning bloc ruled by strict sharia law. It targets university students and professionals, working within countries to try to persuade people to overthrow their governments.

The movement’s appeal to an often influential part of society worries experts. Its goal of an Islamic state may be far-fetched, but it could still undercut efforts to control extremism and develop democracy in countries such as Indonesia, which the U.S. hopes will be a vital regional partner and a global model for moderate Islam.

“Our grand plan over the next five to 10 years is to reinforce the people’s lack of trust and hope in the regime,” said Rochmat Labib, the group’s Indonesia chairman in a rare interview with a Western reporter. “That’s what we are doing now: converting people from democracy, secularism and capitalism to Islamic ideology.”

Hizbut Tahrir, which means The Party of Liberation, is also raising its profile in the U.S. after operating largely underground since the 1990s. Its first major event was a 2009 conference, followed by another one in Chicago this June.

Starkly conflicting views swirl around Hizbut. It has been described as both a peaceful movement to restore one-time Islamic glory and a breeding ground for future suicide bombers, “a conveyer belt to terrorism,” in the words of Zeyno Baran, an expert on Islam in the modern world.

Banned in most countries, Hizbut remains legal in others, including the United States, Great Britain, Australia and Indonesia, where its leaders say it has spread to all 33 provinces. It is closely monitored everywhere, and often operates on the knife-edge of legality.

“The rhetoric they have goes to the fringe of democracy,” said Hans Joergen Bonnichsen, the former head of Denmark’s intelligence service. But the Danish Justice Ministry has twice asked the nation’s top prosecutor if Hizbut could be banned under Danish law, and both times the answer was no.

Its new frontier in Asia ranges from Indonesia and neighboring Malaysia to Pakistan and China, where Beijing has accused it of inciting violence among Muslim Uighurs in the remote west. It has also become the most widespread, and persecuted, radical Muslim group in Central Asia.

The Indonesia chapter is believed to be the largest, with a following estimated in the hundreds of thousands, according to Sidney Jones, an expert on Islam in Southeast Asia.

“They are a real force here. They are a greater long-term threat to Indonesia than people who use violence,” said Jones, a Jakarta-based analyst with the International Crisis Group think tank. “Collectively, hardline civil society can have a bigger effect than jihadists and terrorists.”

Her words are echoed by anti-terrorism expert Zhang Jiadong of China’s Fudan University, who said Hizbut is “more harmful than terrorist organizations, because it has more influence on ordinary people.” The group, estimated at up to 20,000 members in China, is more likely to foment riots or rebellions than terrorist attacks, he said.

Ismail Yusanto, the group’s urbane spokesman in Indonesia, insists that “we area peaceful Islamic movement.”

“We believe people can be influenced by their environment, so so-called terrorists could be influenced by everyone, not just us. But Hizbut itself is committed to not being violent. There is no evidence,” he says, when asked whether some adherents later veer to violence.

The claims of nonviolence contrast with the movement’s fiery rhetoric, which calls for the annihilation of Israel – that’s what led to it being outlawed in Germany in 2003 – and exhorts Muslims to fight coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The U.S. State Department says the group “may indirectly generate support for terrorism but there is no evidence that it has committed any acts of terrorism.”

Hizbut followers may later “graduate” to terror under the tutelage of other groups. Often cited are the first British suicide bombers, Asif Hanif and Omar Khan Sharif, who attacked a Tel Aviv bar in 2001 and had past Hizbut links.

Reports have also linked Hizbut to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the Sept. 11 mastermind, and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the former al-Qaida chief in Iraq, but they have never been proven.

Hizbut calls for the establishment of a caliphate, uniting all Muslim nations under centralized Islamic rule in emulation of such entities that flourished in the past.

This is to be attained by changing Muslim mindsets to think beyond national borders, then pressing the message among political leaders, the armed forces and other power brokers until governments crumble.

Taquiddin an-Nabhani, a Palestinian lawyer who founded the movement in 1953, didn’t rule out violence during the last stage of creating the caliphate, or the possibility of fighting Western nations to protect it or expand it into non-Muslim countries. In earlier days, Hizbut staged failed coups in Jordan, Syria and Egypt, and it is now largely banned in the Middle East.

In Indonesia, Jones said, Hizbut appeals to those who believe that neither the country’s earlier dictatorship or present democracy has worked.

She said it has been able to infiltrate the top cleric body, the Indonesian Ulema Council, and local governments and exercises some clout on issues such as introducing sharia law, banning non-mainstream Muslim sects and opposing the operations of Western companies in Indonesia.

Unlike many Islamist groups, it welcomes women, who make up about a third of the membership, according to Ratu Erma, the head of its women’s organization. It also enjoys a following among parts of the elite.

“Some of them work by day in Jakarta’s main business district making the wheels of capitalism turn and after work talk about overthrowing the country’s infidel system. It’s one of the conundrums about the HT,” says Greg Fealy, an Indonesia expert at Australian National University who is adamant that at least in Indonesia the group is nonviolent.

In Malaysia, young hard-liners disillusioned with the moderating stances of mainstream political parties have turned to Hizbut because “they feel it is sticking to Islamic principles more closely,” said Mohamed Nawab Mohamed Osman of Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University.

Nawab, an expert on the group in Asia, said that Hizbut, which barely filled a meeting room in Malaysia in 2004, recently drew more than 1,000 to a conference and is present in every state but one.

Leaders and followers interviewed in both countries dodge questions about their numbers and inner workings, even the whereabouts of the current global leader, Ata Khalil Abu-Rashta, except to say he is based in the Middle East.

Behind its public face, Hizbut is built along Marxist-Leninst lines with secretive cells as key building blocks. Nawab says “students” may go through up to five years of arduous training and indoctrination to prove their commitment and become members. Some 60 percent don’t make the grade.

Hizbut members have been imprisoned in Russia, Central Asian nations and elsewhere, but some experts say the broad definition of terrorism in these countries – rather than any acts committed – landed many of them in jail, and sometimes before execution squads.

Within the U.S., opinion is divided. The State Department doesn’t name Hizbut as a terrorist group, but the New York City Police Department, in a document obtained by The Associated Press, identified it as a “tier one extremist group” in 2006.

The British government came close to banning the group after the 2005 London bombings, and government officials say membership has shrunk to fewer than 2,000 members. But Britain remains an important base for fundraising, propaganda efforts and recruiting senior members. Many leaders in Indonesia and Malaysia were once asylum seekers in the U.K. who got an education and made connections and then returned home.

Ed Husain, who described his time as a British member in the 2007 book “The Islamist,” said that globally the movement is “strong, robust, growing.”

“I still believe that the message and ideology of Hizbut Tahrir is as potent as ever,” he said in an interview.

“Their antidemocratic, anti-West, anti-Israel and anti-Muslim governments stance remains firm. As such, they implant confrontational, radical ideas and thus attitudes among young Muslims.”

The second Camp David protector has fallen!

Thirty years ago, Sadat fell dead by the faithful men of Egypt, a penalty for his sin of signing the treacherous Camp David Accords with the Jewish entity occupying Palestine, the land of Isra and Mira, and the land of al-Aqsa Mosque.

Today, the fugitive Hosni Mubarak has fallen, Sadat’s successor in the protection of the Camp David Accords, in betrayal of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and the believers.
The two fell by what they earned with their own hands, after they built palaces and amassed wealth, and then left them behind their backs.

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ

“Neither heaven nor earth shed any tears for them and they were granted no reprieve.” (Ad-Dukhan, 44: 29)

They both fell after they “worshipped” America instead of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, yet they did not take anything away from Allah سبحانه وتعالى:
وَلَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَنْكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

“Your troops will not help you at all, however many they are. Allah is with the believers.” (al-Anfal, 8: 19)

The two fell without any good, only shame in this world.

وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَخْزَىٰ ۖ وَهُمْ لَا يُنْصَرُونَ

“And the punishment of the Next World is even more degrading. And they will not be helped.” (Fusilat, 41: 16)

The two fell. This is the case with every traitor, even after a while, who does not rule with Islam, and does not remain loyal to Allah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم, and instead befriends the kuffar colonialists, conspiring with them on against the Muslim lands.

The two fell. So will the tyrants not take heed, before Allah سبحانه وتعالى takes them from where they do not reckon?

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللَّهَ غَافِلًا عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ الظَّالِمُونَ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ الْأَبْصَارُ

“Do not consider Allah to be unaware of what the wrongdoers perpetrate. He is merely deferring them to a Day on which their sight will be transfixed.” (Ibrahim, 14: 42)

Do they not understand, the rulers who have signed treacherous agreements with the Jewish entity, or implemented them or negotiated with them, that their destiny is dark in this world before the next life, or are they deaf, dumb and blind and do not understand?

Egypt has risen against the injustice, and Tahrir Square was a masjid, resounding with takbirs, marking a new dawn. Could this dawn be the true dawn of the Khilafah in the land kananah? The dawn of the abolition of treasonous treaties; the dawn of victory in the battles of Palestine anew; the dawn of liberating it from the taint of the Zionists, and the removal of their entity that America established, fed and armed in the sight and earshot of the treacherous rulers in Muslim lands, with their complicity and pleasure!

The United States damaged Egypt over a long time, and this damage was made easy for her, by rulers who are not ashamed in front of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم or the believers. America remains even in these recent events, poking her nose into the affairs of Egypt, as is on the lips of Obama, his Vice President and his advisers. Do they not worry that this nose will be cut off, or that tongue will be cut off, as Egypt returns free and honourable the Kenana of Allah سبحانه وتعالى on His earth?

We in Hizb ut-Tahrir sincerely turn to the Supreme Council of the Egyptian armed forces, to whom Allah has given the rule, to make its allegiance to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and the believers, and cut all other loyalties. Establish the Khilafah, ruling by the revelation of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, and strive in Allah’s way. Root out the disbelieving colonialists, and restore in Palestine the history of her former liberators who removed the taint of the Crusaders and the Tatars, liberating the blessed land from the abomination of the occupiers.

وَلَيَنْصُرَنَّ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَنْصُرُهُ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَقَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ

“Allah will certainly help those who help Him – Allah is All-Strong, Almighty.” (al-Hajj, 22: 40)
