Hizb ut-Tahrir activist wanted by Uzbekistan caught in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, July 15, Interfax – St. Petersburg police have detained an Uzbek man wanted for being a member of the Hizb ut-Tahrir extremist group, a police source told Interfax on Thursday.
“Rustam Zokhidov, 37, was seized on Zakharyevskaya Street in the center of St. Petersburg yesterday. The Samarkand police department put him on the wanted list for distributing socially dangerous materials and being a member of an extremist organization. Detectives say Zokhidov is an activist of Hizb ut-Tahrir,” the source said.
Uzbekistan was informed about the detention, he said.
