Hizb ut-Tahrir recruiter apprehended in Chelyabinsk region
Chelyabinsk, May 30, Interfax – The Federal Security Service Chelyabinsk regional department has detained a Bashkortostan resident, an activist of the outlawed Hizb ut-Tahrir organization who was trying to recruit a woman from Satka.
The young man was recruiting Hizb ut-Tahrir supporters in social networks where he posted the organization’s videos and exchanged messages with other users, the department reported on Thursday.
Banned books, memory sticks containing audio recordings of the terrorist organization’s lectures and religious booklets were seized from him. Besides, several grams of a substance were found in a sachet and identified as a strong euphoretic psycho-stimulant.
“It is not ruled out that the followers of the banned organization may use psycho-stimulants to recruit new disciples of the global Caliphate idea,” the report said.
A criminal case was opened against the suspect on the charges of “participation in a public, religious or other organization ordered by court to be liquidated or banned for extremism reasons.”
